Studies
are being initiated to build on regionally developed bioassessment
protocols for streams in northern Idaho. As Idaho develops TMDLs
and begins restoration projects, we will look at the effectiveness
of bioassessment protocols for tracking the recovery of the invertebrate
community in lotic systems. We will study the sequence in which
components of the macroinvertebrate community recolonize restored
stream sections. We will also begin a study of natural and man-made
wetlands to compare the resident invertebrate communities in native
marshes, settling ponds, etc
