Computer generated models of pdtc copper and iron complexes.
In EBI laboratory, we isolated pdtc from Pseudomonas stutzeri, and determined its structures.

| Research Interests: |
| |
|
Research involves the study of biodegradation (bioremediation) of organic compounds, including nitroaromatics (TNT, RDX, dinoseb),
chlorinated aromatic (pentachlorophenol) and aliphatic (carbon tetrachloride) compounds, azo compounds (azo dyes), and petroleum
hydrocarbons (diesel), by fungi and bacteria.
|
| |
|
Other interests include the reaction mechanism of peroxidases and ligninase, the biomimetic application of non-biological catalysts
in redox reactions, and the possibility of designing biodegradability into the structure of organic compounds, using azo dye isomers
and plastic polymers as model compounds. Research also involves studying the structures, and reaction mechanisms of the porphyrins
and heme proteins and small oranometalic complexes (siderophores).
|
| |
|
Theoretical research involves work with computer-generated models of enzymes (peroxidases) and small and large organometallic
molecules. Areas of interest include energy minimization, homology modeling, molecular orbital calculations, and 3D visualizations
using Insight II software from Accelrys Inc. and a Silicon Graphic computer.
