As a
result of our affiliation with the University of Idaho, a core function of the
Food Technology Center is to educate the people about the food industry.
Given the nature of today's food supply, it is imperative that all food
processors have the knowledge and ability to produce safe, high quality food
products.
All work conducted at the Food Technology Center must
comply with all state and federal regulations regarding food safety and
sanitation. The FTC offers an introductory
course to all clients that are interested in using the commercial kitchen for
production. This course, entitled "Developing
Your Food Product Idea: A Blueprint for Pre-Venture and Startup Food Companies"
will provide attendees with the necessary background knowledge to start a food
company that complies with industry and regulatory standards. The course also serves as a prerequisite for use of the FTC for
those clients with limited knowledge of food processing.
For existing food companies, the Food Technology Center
can serve as an off-site location to conduct employee training in the areas of
HACCP, food safety, sanitation, processing, etc. Training may be provided by employees or by
personnel provided by the Food Technology Center.
