Olaf Schneewind, M.D., Ph.D.: Dr. Schneewind’s new position is Professor and Chair, Department of Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology, University of Chicago. Dr. Schneewind has extensive NIH funding and provides expertise in the physiology of pathogenic bacteria, general pathogenesis, and virulence of biosecurity agents.
Robert Coombs, M.D., Ph.D.: Dr. Coombs is Professor of Laboratory Medicine at the University of Washington. He is also the Director of the Clinical Retrovirology Laboratory and Director of the UW Medical Center/AIDS Clinic. Dr. Coombs has a strong record of NIH R01 and P01 funding and provides expertise in molecular and cellular virology as well as viral immunology to our COBRE.
Ching C. Wang, Ph.D.: Dr. Wang is Professor of Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of California, San Francisco. He is a well-established researcher in molecular parasitology. Dr. Wang was recruited to the committee because his expertise is consistent with that of our new investigators working with parasite and fungal pathogens.
