Microsoft Word 2007 Compatibility

For those who have installed Microsoft Office 2007, CALS Computing Services has drafted instructions on how to set the default Microsoft Office 2007 document file format for Word, Excel and PowerPoint to be compatible with older versions. This should be done if sharing documents with other employees.

1. Start Word 2007.

2. Click on the “Ribbon” icon in the upper left corner of Word to make the file options appear

Click on the Ribbon icon

3. Click on the “Word Options” button

Click on "Word Options"

4. Click on the “Save” option in the left pane of the Options window

5. Click on the drop down and select “Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)” option in the “Save files in this format:” sub section of the “Save Documents” section

Select Word 97-2003

6. Click on the “OK” button for the “Word Options” window

Click OK
