Microsoft Excel 2007 Compatibility

For those who have installed Microsoft Office 2007, CALS Computing Services has drafted instructions on how to set the default Microsoft Office 2007 document file format for Word, Excel and PowerPoint to be compatible with older versions. This should be done if sharing documents with other employees.

1. Start Excel 2007.

2. Click on the “Ribbon” icon in the upper left corner of Excel to make the file options appear

3. Click on the “Excel Options” button

Click on "Excel Options"

4. Click on the “Save” option in the left pane of the Options window

5. Click on the drop down and select “Excel 97-2003 Workbook” option in the “Save files in this format:” sub section of the “Save Workbooks” section

Select Excel 97-2003

6. Click on the “OK” button for the “Excel Options” window

Click OK
