Crop Image with Photoshop Elements

1. Select the Crop tool from the left side tool bar.

2. Make sure that the View is set to After Only.

3. You can pre-set the size of the image before you crop it with the upper tool bar. This is not necessary, but helpful if there are prior size constraints. For this example we will make a image for the web with 300 x 200 pixel dimensions at 72 pixels/inch.

4. Now left-click and drag the mouse over the desired area of the image that you want to keep.

5. Release the mouse when the desired area is selected and click the green check mark , or press enter. If this is not the area you want cropped; click the red circle , or press esc. You can also alter the shape of the crop area by left-clicking and dragging the squares located on the edge of the crop area.

Note: The crop area can be rotated by having the mouse pointer outside the crop area. Once the symbol appears, left-click and drag clockwise or counter-clockwise, whichever is desired.

Rotate Image in Photoshop Elements

Save Images for the Web

2. Photographs should be saved as a JPEG. Limited color images should be saved as a GIF. In this example we will save a photograph, so select JPEG underneath the Preset setting.

3. Now adjust the Quality of the image. Usually anything under 60 will cause a halo, or pixellated effect, but this setting is completely up to the user. There are also automatic settings that can be applied, located under the image selection box.

4. The dimensions of your image can also be altered by changing the width or height in the New Size settings, below the Preset commands. Don't forget to click Apply after inputting the new pixel width/height.

5. Once all the desired settings are applied click OK, and pick a destination and title for the image.
