The Department of Animal and Veterinary Science conducts broad-based research programs with emphases in the areas of Ruminant Nutrition, Lactation, Reproductive Biology, Growth Biology/Meat Science, Aquaculture and Animal Health. Programs in applied research address issues of immediate concern to production animal agriculture and wildlife species. Programs in basic research address issues which will provide the foundation for future innovation in animal agriculture. Research programs include undergraduate and graduate students and professional staff and involve considerable collaboration with other UI Departments, Washington State University, other Universities throughout the country, and with agricultural producers throughout the Northwest.
