About CALS Administrative Services
|
CALS Administrative
Services (CAS) is a dedicated group of individuals
responsible for overseeing the budget, human resource,
and computer operations for the College of Agricultural
and Life Sciences (CALS). CAS supports eight college
departments, four University of Idaho Extension District
Offices, two administrative units, ten Research and
Extension Centers, and forty-two county offices located
throughout Idaho. In addition, CAS is responsible for
all federal reporting, key control for the Agricultural
Sciences Building, federal excess property program, and
monitoring of college property inventory throughout the
state.
CAS adds professional creative and technical
communications expertise to the academic, research,
extension and outreach programs of the College of
Agricultural and Life Sciences. We ensure that
information, marketing and educational materials are
easier to understand, more professional, targeted to
specific audiences, and delivered in appropriate and
timely ways. To convey this information we use printed,
electronic publishing, broadcast news media, and the
Internet. This diversity of talent and skill,
collaboratively applied, allows CAS to enhance quality
of college programs.
Mission
CAS provides fiscal management, personnel
administration, computer assistance, and software
development support for the College of Agricultural and
Life Sciences and supports the college's research,
outreach, extension, and teaching missions by preparing
and distributing research-based information to the
people of Idaho.
Vision
We find innovative ways for providing efficient and
effective service and information to our internal and
external constituents (e.g., faculty, staff, county
offices, state and federal agencies, and the reading,
viewing, listening public) while adapting to changes in
technologies, reporting requirements, and funding
sources. As a team of land-grant communicators, we make
expert use of multiple media to achieve nationally
recognized excellence and leadership in the creative
synthesis and delivery of research-based information and
educational materials. These will enrich the lifelong
earning and learning opportunities of the audiences we
address, enabling them to confidently meet contemporary
challenges and to insightfully anticipate and prepare
for the future challenges facing them in agriculture,
natural resources, family life, and youth, leadership,
and community development.
